Leatherworking

All of the leatherwork projects that I have undertaken have all been either As a direct result of a personal need for a piece that I cant source myself in the quality and style I am looking for or have been as a project to better learn the skills needed to repair a piece for myself or others.

I am happy to take on commission work but any piece would neeed to be talked through prior to commencement.

A few projects

Luggage Tag

Ever been standing at the airport and watching a multitude of black bags circle past you and no known which was yours? I have.

This handy tag can be made with any belt canvas and initialled too if desired to bag you bag stand out fron the crowd next time your away.

Weighted Ball

These balls were borne out of a desire to have a beautiful solution to an everyday problem.

When you work with leather most of what you do is on a template and then transferred to the leather. The template needs to be weighted down and ideally not damage the leather. Hence an old fashioned football and rugby ball filled with lead shot. I substantial weight but no hard edges!

Cartridge Bag

This bag was a real labour of love and I would need some persuading to make another! It was a fantastic project though as a means of really getting to grips with a lot of different stitching techniques and seams. I am looking forward to seeing how it ages with with use and wear.

Drinks Tub (prototype)

Anyone out on the shooting field will agree that it is as much about the day as it is the shooting, and eleven sites aren’t the same without a tipple. I have long owned a set of tumblers in a plastic tube that are functional but not pretty. This is my first prototype of a tube that can hold some nice tumblers for next season.

The next version will come with a strap or handle to make transporting them easier.

Certificate Wallet

If you are like me you will like a place for everything and everything in it place!

I really wanted a nice certificate holder for my shotgun and rifle licences that was a step up from the plastic slip that used to be sent with your renewal or picked up from the locally clay ground.
